Juan Carlos Gutierrez Q

Dr. Juan Carlos Gutiérrez Añez

Dr. Juan Carlos Gutiérrez Añez is Full Professor of Animal Reproduction at Universidad del Zulia (Venezuela) and currently a postdoctoral scientist at the University of Hohenheim (Germany).
His research focuses on reproductive biotechnologies in buffaloes, including AI, OPU, IVF, and embryo transfer. He has authored over 60 scientific publications and is internationally recognized for his contributions to buffalo reproduction and biotechnology under tropical conditions.

Dr. Wai Yee (Lloyd) Low

 
Dr. Wai Yee (Lloyd) Low is a Senior Bioinformatician at the Davies Livestock Research Centre, University of Adelaide.
His research focuses on advanced sequencing technologies and complex livestock genomes, particularly in cattle and water buffalo. He led the development of high-quality reference genomes for cattle and buffalo and pioneered the 1000 Buffalo Genomes Project. He also co-chairs the Bovine Pangenome Consortium, contributing to genomic innovation in the livestock industry.

Prof. Marialuisa Balestrieri

Maria Luisa Balestrieri is Full Professor of Biochemistry at the Department of Precision Medicine, University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”, Naples, Italy. She obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Naples “Federico II” and was Research Assistant at Oak Ridge Associated Universities, Tennessee (USA).
Her research focuses on cellular redox homeostasis in chronic degenerative diseases, particularly cancer and type 2 diabetes, as well as on bioactive natural food compounds with antioxidant and anticancer properties. She is member of the Academic Board of the Ph.D. Program in Biochemical and Biotechnological Sciences and of the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Dr. Stefano Biffani

Stefano Biffani is a researcher specializing in animal breeding, quantitative genetics, and genomics. He currently works at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Milan and holds a Joint Chair research position at the University of Parma.
His research focuses on genomic selection, biodiversity, sustainability, and innovative approaches for livestock improvement. He has collaborated with several international institutions and holds a PhD in Animal Science from the University of Firenze.

Dr. Sebastiana Failla

Dr. Sebastiana Failla obtained her PhD at the University of Viterbo and has been working as a researcher since 1990. She is currently Research Director at CREA – Research Centre for Animal Production and Aquaculture (CREA-ZA), Italy. Her research activity focuses on meat characterization in different livestock species, particularly buffalo, bovine, and rabbit, with attention to nutritional and functional properties.
In recent years, her studies have focused on nutraceutical compounds, biomarkers for production system identification, and the valorisation of animal products. She also has experience in advanced analytical techniques applied to food quality, traceability, and authenticity assessment.

Prof. Michael J. D’Occhio

Michael D’Occhio is a reproductive biologist specializing in puberty, early embryonic development, and pregnancy establishment in livestock. He has contributed extensively to research on the nutritional, molecular, and cellular determinants of reproduction, collaborating closely with the livestock industry and veterinary pharmaceutical companies.
He has co-authored more than 200 scientific publications and currently holds positions as Honorary Professor at The University of Sydney, Australia, and Emeritus Professor at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
